We believe that all kids deserve the opportunity to discover who they are and what they can achieve. That's why, through the Y, thousands of youth today are cultivating the values, skills and relationships that lead to positive behaviors, better health and educational achievement.
The Y brings families closer together, encourages good health and fosters connections through fitness, sports, fun and shared interests. As a result, hundreds of thousands of youth, adults and families in Middle Tennessee and southern Kentucky are receiving the support, guidance and resources needed to achieve greater health and well-being.
The YMCA of Middle Tennessee has been listening and responding to our communities' most critical social needs for more than 130 years. Thanks to community partners and thousands of volunteers who devote their time, talent and financial support, the Y is able to provide access to life-changing programs and give thousands in our community the chance to learn, grow and thrive.

Our Strength is in Community
The Y is a nonprofit like no other. That’s because in 10,000 neighborhoods across the nation, we have the presence and partnerships to not just promise, but deliver, positive change.
Our Impact is Felt Every Day
With a mission to put correct principles into practice through programs that build a healthy spirit, mind and body for all, our impact is felt when an individual makes a healthy choice, when a mentor inspires a child and when a community comes together for the common good
"Children are like sponges – they watch and absorb knowledge, skills and values from everything and everyone around them. At the Y, we believe the values and skills learned early on are vital building blocks for quality of life and future success. That’s why our child care, afterschool and Child Watch programs are staffed with people who understand the cognitive, physical and social development of kids, the need children have to feel connected and supported in trying new things, and the caring and reinforcement parents and families need to help each other. At the Y, babies develop trust and security, preschoolers experience early literacy and learn about their world, and school-age kids make friends, learn new skills and do homework. Most importantly, children learn how to be their best selves. That makes for confident kids today, and contributing and engaged adults tomorrow.
We know that lasting personal and social change comes about when we all work together. That’s why, at the Y, strengthening community is our cause. Every day, we work side-by-side with our neighbors to make sure that everyone, regardless of age, income or background, has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive. "
